Jan-Ulrich Sobisch

Jan-Ulrich Sobisch has (since 1985) studied Tibetology, Classical Indology, and Philosophy at Hamburg University, and has worked as a postdoc researcher at the Ludwig-Maximilliams-University (Munich, 2000-2003). Between 2003 and 2016 he held a post as an associate professor for Tibetan Studies at Copenhagen University. Since 2017 he works at the Centre for Religious Studies (CERES) at the Ruhr-University (Bochum). In 2016 he received the renowned Humboldt Research Award in recognition of his entire achievements to date in academic studies of his field. Since 1981, he is also privately engaged in Buddhist meditation practices transmitted in Tibetan traditions.
